Salvation for Anyone

I read 1 Timothy 1:12–17 one day, and I was reminded of one certain truth: The gospel is for the worse of sinners. Paul, whom he believed was the chief of sinners, the worst of the worst, yet the gospel could save a man like him.

Where it Started

I grew up in church. I knew all the correct answers, and I attended church faithfully. I was your typical kid who did not listen to their parents, got into trouble, and was grounded occasionally. I would go to “kid church” every week, but it was different one particular week when I was seven years old. When my children’s pastor presented the gospel this time, I knew I needed to do something. I talked to my mom on the car ride home, and on the way home, I confessed Jesus as Lord, and He was my Savior.

After Christ

My life was different even if I had not realized how different it would be. Throughout middle school and high school, I would be a teenager. I was figuring life out, and I would get into trouble from time to time. I was your good kid, but I hadn’t quite figured out how to live for Jesus. I was still faithful at church, and I was still growing in my walk with Jesus. I was called to full-time ministry at a church camp when I was seventeen, but I still don’t think I got it yet.
I would go to Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. It would be one of the most growing times in my walk with Christ. In my first year, I believed I was ready for full-time ministry. My second year would be a wake-up call that I had much to learn. I needed to be humbled. I would start attending a church my sophomore year that I saw four years to learn who God is and what He does.
It was like my eyes were getting a bigger picture of who God is, and I was studying my Bible like never before. God was growing me and thought I would struggle with sin and temptation. I would have seasons of joy and seasons of suffering, yet the Lord is good.

The Call

I am now in full-time ministry at a church, and I see people who are struggling. They are not sure if they can be saved, or they don’t care about anything. I get to preach and teach to them from God’s Word that the gospel is for anyone. The gospel can save anyone, and this gospel is that you may know Jesus as Lord and Savior. You can believe that today and your life will be changed.
